Perhaps too many species for the non-bivalve expert who might be a bit puzzled or embarrassed when trying to identify his own shells.

The reference for the European gastropods.
The geographical range extends from Norway to Morocco and into the Mediterranean. It covers both species and variations of gastropods.
The only inconvenient is that the description pages are not listed on the plates making the browsing a bit laborious.

The reference for the European bivalves.

A good small book that will help you out to find and identify common and nice species from Florida.

That guide is a bit outdated but it remains as a very good mollusc reference and worldwide shells catalog that cover about 1200 species.
The quality of the plates is still impressive.

A regional book about Seychelles marine shells. Specie illustrations are large and descriptions are good.
Unfortunately the species number is limited to what can be commonly found and, still, a few common species are missing.
NAS Field Guide to North American Seashells

A good amount of North America species with nice photographs.
The shape classification is unusal and an interesting initiative but it is not always relevant.
I regret that no information about the specie author is provided.
ONLC L'Oeil Nature - Les Coquillages

A nice little book with selected collectible species from everywhere.
The specie description is really detailed and points on differenciation characteristics.
I appreciate the minimap and the abundance index for each specie.
